Badminton Players Step it up a Year......

The Year 9 badminton players went to Monkseaton High School to take on their Year 10 team. With some very promising badminton players in their squad hopes for a win were high. For the boys Steven Brown and Karl Wilson were the current holders of the North Tyneside doubles title. Philip Welsh has also caught the eye lately as he has been asked to train with the county badminton team.

For the girls Rachel McCann in Y7 was confident enough to play against girls 3 years older than her!!

After some very competitive games the Monkseaton team eventually won 3-1. This proved to be a useful exercise for the GSHS team as they have now shown they can compete with pupils older than them.

Badminton at GSHS continues to grow with lunch time and after school clubs for anyone wishing to play the sport. Please see a member of the PE department for me details of clubs. 

The girls squad was Beth, Rachel, Lucy, Chanel, Ellen, Paige, Jessica, Rachel.

The boy’s squad was Owen, Steven, Steven, Lewis, Lewis, Lee, Karl, Matty .
