| GSHS 3 - 2 Burnside | GSHS 0 - 2 Seaton Burn |
Scorers: Middleton 2, Whitmore 1
On April 28th GSHS had two teams playing in this seasons North Tyneside league cup finals. The Y9 team completed a fantastic win over Burnside in a very close game. This is now the third year in a row the boys have won the trophy – a great achievement.
In a keenly contested game GSHS started out the better of the two sides, settling into a fast paced game. Burnside broke the deadlock however, when Jordan Harvey struck a super shot from the edge of the box to score in the corner of the net. At half time, despite being the better team GSHS were one down. However, in the second half GSHS found themselves 2 – 1 up thanks to Alex Whitmore and Alex Middleton. Whitmore scored from a corner. The ball came over and he managed to deflect the ball towards goal. The ball eventually bobbled over the line to make it 2-1. Middleton then latched onto a ball over the top to slot the ball passed the advancing Burnside keeper.
GSHS continued to play well with Serginson, Reay, Barret and Forster defending very well. The third goal came from another ball threaded into Middleton’s feet. He turned on the edge of the box and beat the offside trap to score.
In a tense finish Burnside scored to make it 3 – 2. GSHS though defended very well to eventually win the cup for the third time. It has been another very good season for the boys. They finished 2nd in the league and were unlucky to get beat in the county cup semi final at Bedlington, meaning they have only lost two games all season. Below are some pictures from the final.
The Y10 team had never reached a final before and were the under dogs going into the game. The lads have had a good season so far and are unbeaten in the league. There is a very good chance they could end up winning it outright.
In the cup final Seaton Burn started off the better team but could not break the deadlock. Jon Coul in the GSHS goal pulled off a great save from a penalty to keep the score 0 – 0. Seaton burn did score twice before Michael Butcher got a goal back for GSHS only for it to be ruled out for offside.

The Year 10 were disappointed not to have beaten Seaton Burn!!!!
