Home Learning Year 9
The Science department will be assessing all Year 9 students during the week commencing 9th January 2017. During this week you will sit two exam papers during Science lessons that will contain topics of the Science curriculum taught in Year 7, 8 and 9.
The Science department will use the levels from this assessment, along with assessment data from previous tests, to ascertain how best to support you as you progress to the GCSE Science qualification in Year 10.
To help you prepare for this assessment the Science department will be providing all Year 9 students with home learning question booklets, additional question booklets can be accessed [here].
The home learning must be ready to hand in by the date issued by the lead Science teacher. As part of the home learning task Year 9 students will be provided with a mark scheme for each booklet and you should use this to mark their work prior to handing it in. The mark scheme can be accessed from the school website please click [here].
A selection of optional extra past paper booklets with accompanying mark schemes will also be available from the same section of the website should students wish to do further revision. The zip file can be accessed [here].
I would recommend that students use the KS3 Science section of the BBC Bitesize website to help them to revise and when completing the home learning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks3/science/
The front of the work booklet contains an area for a parental signature. I would be very grateful if parents/carers could sign this to acknowledge that their child has received the booklet and completed and marked the tasks.
