Curriculum Intent

Key Stage 3 Food
 

Learners will independently develop creative, technical and safe practical expertise in order to perform everyday food preparation and cooking techniques, which will allow them to feed themselves affordably and well, now and in later life with a nutritious and balanced diet.  There will also be opportunities for learners to explore possible career pathways in this sector.
 

Key Stage 4 Hospitality and Catering
 

The Hospitality and Catering Curriculum is designed to support learner’s progression into further study or prepare for future employment. Learners will explore a variety of careers and settings from the Hospitality and Catering industry.  Learners will understand and apply the principles of nutrition and health to plan menus and recipes, and to create and present dishes in order to meet customer requirements.  Learners will understand the characteristics of ingredients and be able to use the most appropriate cooking methods and techniques in order to meet a brief, whilst taking into consideration and adhering to current health and safety legislation.
 

Key Stage 4 Health and Social Care
 

The Health and Social Care Curriculum is designed to support learners progression into further study or prepare for future employment in Health Social Care or the Early years child care sector.
